The Life of Spice follows spice historian and chef Simone Cormier around the world as she uncovers the origin of the spices we use everyday. In this episode, we travel to the jungles of Guatemala to understand indigenous uses of Cardamom, cook with local chefs and understand the conflict between local cardamom farmers and creating a sustainable future for the spice.
Director Biography
Christina is an award-winning director and producer. She leads media reporting on immigration for the United Nations Human Rights Office and was based in India for more than a decade. She is the executive producer and host of Women in Labour, a comedy meets investigative journalism podcast series delving into why women in India are dropping out of the workforce at one of the fastest rates in the world. She created the UN’s first ever stand-up comedy festival, in which all comedy focused on migration and rising nationalism in the West. She is currently a fellow at the Investigative Reporting Workshop at American University. Christina is a former President William J. Clinton Fellow in media and human rights, a 2020 American Center Cultural grantee and a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society. She holds a BA in International Studies from Macalester College and a MA in Journalism from New York University.
